About Us
Combining AI and domain knowledge to enable circular resource management
Era of Change
We live in an era of systemic structural change.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping industries, economies are reordering, security alliances are shifting, and climate change is multiplying interconnected economic, environmental and security risks.
In this uncertain time of change, the need to secure strategic water, energy and food resources – the resources of life – is critical.

Philosophy
In the Linear Economy, we manage water like we manage oil – as a Finite Stock. This fuels a scarcity mindset, and the win-lose paradigm that divides our world.
In the Circular Economy, we manage water and energy as renewable Circular Flows.
This fuels an abundance mindset, and the win-win cooperation required to reshape sustainable economic models of the future.
Fragile Linear Economy
Depletes resources, ecosystems and trust
• Efficiency depends on centralisation
• Long vulnerable value chains
• Win-Lose competition
Resilient Circular Economy
Renews resources, ecosystems and trust
• AI enables efficient decentralisation
• Resilient local value chains
• Win-Win cooperation
Adaptive Circular Solutions
With a primary focus on water and energy, Nexus combines AI-driven advanced process control (APC) with domain knowledge to create efficiencies, reduce waste, and enable closed-loop circular resource management.
Our solutions adapt complex, highly variable processes in real or near real-time – optimising existing infrastructure and enabling the development of efficient and resilient new infrastructure.
Our business and approach is centered on three core pillars:
Our business and approach is centered on three core pillars:
1. Knowledge
Core knowledge in water within the water-energy-food nexus
2. Data Platform
Adaptive data management and control
3. Innovation
Rapid solutions development, bridging old & new systems
LEADERSHIP TEAM
Our leadership team combines global experience in technology and financial innovation, strategic resource management, and the nexus between water, energy, food and security.

Lew Evans
CEO
Lew launched Nexus with the vision of bridging boundaries between people to solve three critical issues of our time: Water, Energy and Food. A former US Marine, he saw win–lose competition for finite resources fueling war and the linear economy. He believes win–win cooperation to transform to a circular economy can fuel future peace. Born and raised in South Africa, he holds a BSc (Political Science) from the US Naval Academy and MBA issued jointly by NYU Stern, HEC Paris and the London School of Economics.

Dr Anthony Turton,
Head of Strategy
Anthony is a scientist, inventor and global voice on water as a matter of national and regional security. A former Deputy Governor of the World Water Council, he advised Mikhail Gorbachev, SECDEF William Cohen, the Arab Water Security Strategy Working Group, and global resource and financial groups on resource security. He is the founder of the South African Water, Energy and Food Forum, and the African Water Issues Research Institute. He played a lead role in growing technology innovation ecosystems in South Africa following the Cold War.

Jeeten Nathoo
Technology Integration
Jeeten is a scientist, inventor and chemical engineer with deep expertise in developing integrated technology systems to manage complex industrial wastewater and hypersaline brine streams. He is the former CTO of NuWater, Director of the Crystalline & Precipitation Unit at the University of Cape Town, and member of the Steering Committee for the South African Water Research Commission. He holds a BSc and MSc (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Cape Town and is a widely published author on water topics.

Ravi Bhagavatula,
Partner and Strategic Advisor
Ravi is the Managing Partner of WFA Global Investments, specializing in multi-asset strategies including seed-funding and fostering early-stage technology innovation. Previously, he was a Senior Managing Director at UBS IB and AIG. He holds an integrated Master’s degree from IIT-Kanpur, a PhD in Physics, and an MBA jointly issued from NYU Stern, HEC Paris and the London School of Economics. He is also a sponsored Wharton alumnus and holds CFA designation.

Rajan Moodley,
Program Manager
Rajan is a senior engineer and program manager with deep technical expertise in the wastewater sector. He recently led the Wastewater Branch for the City of Cape Town, a role in which he managed 300+ staff and 23 wastewater treatment plants for a rapidly expanding metro of 4.5 million people. He has led the planning and execution of complex wastewater upgrades, integrating the latest emerging digital and treatment technologies. He holds a BSc (Civil Engineering) and MSc (Wastewater and Civil Engineering) from the University of Cape Town.
